THE CANARY GRAND BAND ROCKS EINDHOVEN!

I’ll be honest with you dear reader; I had forgotten all about The Canary Grand Band’s performance at the Apollohuis on 23 February 1991. That is, until Frans sent me a link to a brief TV bit this morning. And what a brilliant link this is! The fun starts here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpFdWY3yDlo&feature=youtu.be. Blink and you’ll miss me, but that’s ME sitting front row left in the first few seconds, looking quite dandy. Even if your Dutch is disputable, you’ll get the gist of the performance, probably one of the oddest I’ve ever been. Frans de Waard gets a brief interview at the end. He refers to a performance featuring 48 vacuum cleaners. I was at that performance too (with Steve Stapleton) and really enjoyed it. The video shows the sky was the limit in the early 90s. Paul Panhuysen is a kind-hearted and most talented man, but let’s be honest you wouldn’t get grants for this kind of thing in 2013!
